Respiratory Home Care: A Bedside Reference Guide

Dana Oakes, BA, RRT-NPS. Mr. Oakes is currently an Educational Consultant and was formerly Director of Respiratory Care, VA Medical Center, Washington, D.C.; Educational Coordinator/Instructor, Respiratory Care Department, Children’s Hospital National Medical Center, Washington, D.C.; and Director of Clinical Education, Respiratory Care Program, Columbia Union College, Takoma Park, MD. Mr. Oakes has been in the Respiratory field for over 30 years and has over 14 years of teaching experience including one-, two-, and four-year advanced Respiratory Care programs.

Kenneth A. Wyka, MS, RRT, FAARC, is a respiratory clinical and home care specialist with Home Therapy Equipment in Clifton Park, NY.  He is a former Associate Professor of Clinical Sciences and Director of Respiratory Clinical Education at the University of Medicine and Dentistry of NJ.  Wyka has in excess of 34 years experience, including Program Director at the Passaic County Community College, and Director of Respiratory Therapy at Valley Hospital.  He is the author of Respiratory Care in Alternate Sites and Foundations of Respiratory Care and has authored chapters on home care and pulmonary rehabilitation in Egan’s Fundamentals of Respiratory Care.

Kathleen S. Wyka, AAS, CRT, is a respiratory home care therapist with Home Therapy Equipment in Clifton Park, NY. She has over 26 years experience in respiratory therapy, including roles as Director of Respiratory Care with Allied Health Care Services; staff respiratory therapist at Union Hospital, Children’s Specialized Hospital and Bayonne Hospital; consultant for sub-acute and long-term facilities throughout New Jersey.  In addition, Wyka is responsible for authoring the home care chapter in the current edition of Whitaker’s Comprehensive Perinatal and Pediatric Respiratory Care.
